Smog Check History: Why Your Cars Test Records Follow It Everywhere

<![CDATA[Every smog check leaves a permanent public record: the VIN's test history — passes, failures, the odometer readings, the repair history's shadows — queryable by anyone with the plate or the VIN. The buyers use it, the sellers are judged by it, and the fleet managers report on it. Understanding what the history contains, who sees it, and how to fix a damaged one is the modern vehicle-owner's literacy. Here's the complete guide to the smog-check records trail.

What the Records Contain: The VIN's Permanent Report Card

Each smog check files under the vehicle's VIN: the date and the station (with its certification), the odometer reading at the test, the pass or fail result, the failing components' details on the failures, and the subsequent certificate's issuance. The history accumulates: the buyer of the used vehicle can see the decade's test trail — the consistent passes (the maintained car), the repeated failures (the repairs' history implied), the odometer's progression (the mileage-fraud detector — the readings that go backward or stall are the red flags).

The records' sources: the state's official lookup (the BAR's vehicle search by VIN), the history-report services (the smog data woven into the Carfax-class reports), and the stations' own retrieval of the previous certificates. The buyer's pre-purchase check is standard practice now: the VIN's smog history is the used-car inspection's paper layer.

Who Uses the History: The Buyers, the Sellers, the Insurers

The used-car buyers: the smog history as the maintenance proxy — the car tested yearly without failures is the mechanically-sound signal; the failure-repair-fail-repair trail reveals the money pit before the money. The sellers: the clean history is the selling asset — the consistent passes listed in the ad, the recent certificate offered upfront. The dealers: the inventory's history verified per unit (the trade-in's history checked before the offer). The fleet managers: the compliance trail for the audits and the resale diligence. The insurers and the lenders: the valuation's and the collateral's data points.

The odometer-fraud detection deserves its highlight: the smog records' odometer readings, filed at every biennial test, form the mileage's independent timeline — the rolled-back odometer caught by the history's arithmetic. The buyers' check is free and five minutes: the VIN searched, the readings' progression scanned.

Fixing a Damaged History: The Repairs and the Retests

The failed test's record is permanent — but the history's story continues: the failure followed by the repair invoices and the passing retest reads as the responsible owner's trail (the failure documented, the fix documented, the pass earned); the multiple failures then the consistent passes read as the problem solved. The history's damage is repairable by the future's behavior — the passing streak's accrual.

The dispute path for the erroneous records: the failed test that the vehicle didn't deserve (the equipment's error, the clerical's mistake) — the station's and the BAR's dispute processes, the retest at another station as the practical resolution, the correction requests filed where the record's error is factual. The records' accuracy is high but not perfect — the errors' correction path exists.

The Seller's and Buyer's Playbook

The seller's preparation: the test's currentness before the listing (the certificate in hand strengthens the asking price), the history's review (the surprises discovered before the buyer discovers them), the repair records' assembly (the folder that closes the sale). The buyer's inspection: the VIN's history pulled (the smog trail plus the history-report), the odometer's progression verified, the failure patterns questioned (the same system failing twice — the unresolved problem), the recent certificate's authenticity noted. The history's layers: the smog records are one layer over the title's and the accident's layers — the complete picture requires all of them.

Conclusion

The smog-check history is the vehicle's permanent report card, filed under the VIN for every buyer, seller, and auditor to read: the passes and failures, the odometer's honest progression, the repairs' implications.

Conclusion

FAQ

How do I look up my car's smog check history?
The state's official vehicle records search (the BAR's lookup by VIN or plate) returns the test history: dates, results, stations, odometer readings. The history-report services bundle the smog data with title and accident layers — the buyer's standard first step.

Does failing a smog check show up on the vehicle's record permanently?
Yes — the failure files under the VIN with the failing details. But so do the subsequent repairs and the passing retests: the documented failure-then-fix trail reads as responsible ownership, and the consistent passes rebuild the history's tone with every cycle.

Can smog check records help detect odometer fraud?
Yes — every biennial test files the odometer reading, forming an independent mileage timeline. Buyers scanning the progression catch the rollbacks (readings going backward or stalling) before the purchase — the five-minute free check against the five-figure fraud.

Best AI Image Generator for Church Media: Ministry Visuals on a Volunteer Budget

<![CDATA[Church media runs on volunteers, tight budgets, and a Sunday deadline that never moves. Every week needs sermon slides, announcement graphics, social posts, kids' ministry visuals, and event promotion — produced by whoever said yes. AI image generators have become the volunteer media team's force multiplier: worship-worthy backgrounds, series artwork, and kids' illustrations that once required stock subscriptions or design skills. Here's how ministries use the best AI image generator tier of tools well — including the theological conversations worth having honestly.

The Weekly Production Load

Sermon series art. The anchor graphic that carries a series across slides, socials, and print — "modern abstract worship background, deep blue and gold light rays, soft clouds, space for sermon title." Generate the hero art once, derive the system: title slide, scripture slides, social crop, bulletin header. Consistency across the series reads as care; generators hold consistency if you hold the style phrase.

Scripture and social graphics. Verse graphics for Instagram and the church's feed are the media team's bread and butter. Generated backgrounds with deliberate empty space, real typography added in Canva or the church's design tool — the standard system, scaled to every week's lectionary or sermon text.

Announcements and events. VBS promotion, youth camp, alpha courses, Christmas services, volunteer appreciation — the event calendar's graphic load generates on demand: the campfire scene for the men's retreat, the colorful classroom for the kids' event. Each is an hour of stock-hunting saved.

Kids' ministry visuals. The hardest stock category — engaging, age-appropriate, theologically careful illustration for children's Bible stories — generates in a consistent friendly style. "Colorful flat illustration, Noah's ark, smiling animals, children's book style" gives Sunday's teachers slides kids actually watch. Review every image carefully: generations of biblical scenes err in historical detail and occasionally produce odd artifacts that distract from the story.

The Theological Conversation, Handled Honestly

Churches have debated imagery in worship for centuries, and AI adds a chapter worth addressing openly rather than by accident. The practical positions most media teams land on: AI as a tool is like stock photography or a printing press — the heart of ministry is the message and the people, and tools serve it. The concerns worth honoring: avoid generating depictions of Christ for official teaching use (traditions differ; many leaders prefer symbolic imagery — light, cross, dove, hands — for theological and accuracy reasons), keep the congregation informed about media methods, and never let generated spectacle displace the congregational voice and photography of real community life, which is the church's actual visual witness.

Authenticity: Real People Remain the Best Media

The strongest church media mixes generated design with real congregational photography — baptisms, potlucks, youth nights, serving days. Visitors scanning a church's feed want evidence of real community, not only beautiful graphics. Use generation for the design layer and event promotion; use photos (with permissions) as the proof of life. Churches that blend both report the feeds feel both professional and alive — which is exactly the combination that welcomes strangers.

Practical Systems for Volunteer Teams

Build the church's style constitution once: two or three palette colors, a mood, a style phrase — stored where every volunteer can find it, prepended to every prompt so six volunteers produce one church's look. Create template files in the design tool with reserved text zones; volunteers swap the generated background and type the announcement. Batch the week in one sitting: sermon slides, socials, events — an hour, not an evening lost. And archive prompts that worked; a ministry's prompt library is its media team's institutional memory.

Licensing note for print use (bulletins, banners, posters): confirm the generator's tier covers print and commercial-adjacent use — ministries count as organizations under most tools' terms, and paid tiers remove the ambiguity.

Conclusion

AI image generators give church media teams sermon art systems, scripture graphics, event promotion, and kids' illustrations at volunteer capacity — with the theology discussed openly, real congregational photography kept central, and a shared style constitution keeping six volunteers on one visual voice. Sunday comes every seven days; the media can now keep up with it.

FAQ

Can churches use AI-generated images in sermon slides and social media?
Yes — series art, scripture graphics, event promotion, and kids' visuals are working uses in churches of every size. Discuss the team's boundaries openly (many avoid generated depictions of Christ for teaching), and keep real congregational photography central to the church's public face.

How do volunteer media teams keep visuals consistent?
One style constitution — palette, mood, style phrase — stored centrally and prepended to every prompt, plus design templates with fixed text zones. Six volunteers with one style line produce one coherent look.

Is generating biblical scene illustrations for kids' ministry safe?
With review, yes: check for historical inaccuracies, odd artifacts, and cultural sensitivity before showing children, and prefer illustration styles over photorealism.
AI Video for Coaches' Group Programs: The Community Cultivation Guide

<![CDATA[The coaching program's community is the retention's secret weapon: the members who feel the cohort's belonging complete, renew, and refer — the community that the curriculum alone can't create. The community's cultivation is video-supported: the coach's presence videos, the member-celebration formats, the discussion prompts, and the milestone rituals — the video layer that turns the member list into the cohort. Here's the community cultivation guide: the rituals, the rhythms, and the video formats that build the belonging.

The Community's Rituals: The Belonging's Architecture

The opening ritual. The cohort's start ritual: the introductions' format (the video introductions from every member — the goal, the why, the fun fact), the coach's welcome video, the community's norms stated. The opening week's rituals set the culture: the vulnerability modeled by the coach, the support demonstrated in the first threads.

The weekly rhythm's rituals. The Monday's intention posts, the Wednesday's check-in threads, the Friday's wins celebration — the weekly rituals that give the cohort its heartbeat. The coach's participation visible in each ritual: the presence that the community mirrors.

The milestone rituals. The program's milestones marked: the module completions celebrated, the halfway point's reflection, the project launches honored — the rituals that convert the curriculum's progress into the community's shared events.

The closing ritual. The program's completion celebrated: the graduation videos, the reflections, the before-and-after of the members' journeys — the closing that honors the transformation and seeds the alumni relationship.

The Video Formats: The Coach's Presence at Scale

The weekly presence video. The coach's five-minute weekly video: the cohort's progress acknowledged, the week's theme set, the questions answered collectively — the presence that the asynchronous community needs to feel led.

The member-celebration formats. The members' wins featured in the coach's videos (with consent): the shout-outs, the story highlights, the progress clips — the celebration formats that train the community's culture of support.

The hot-seat and case-study videos. The member's challenge worked live (with consent): the coaching demonstrated, the community learning from the process — the hot-seat's format that serves the individual and the cohort simultaneously.

The Q&A and office-hours recordings. The questions answered once, archived forever: the searchable library of the coach's answers, the community's self-service layer.

The Cultivation's Discipline: The Community's Management

The coach's presence rhythm. The coach's daily or every-other-day visibility: the thread replies, the celebration comments, the direct-support messages — the presence's consistency that the community's trust requires. The presence scheduled into the coach's calendar as the delivery, not as the leftover.

The community's champions cultivated. The senior members and the natural leaders empowered as the community's champions — the champions' roles defined, their contributions recognized, the culture's co-ownership distributed. The champion-cultivation is the community's scaling mechanism.

The negativity's management. The community's conflicts and the negativity addressed promptly: the norms enforced with the fairness, the members' issues moved to the private channels, the culture protected from the single member's erosion. The moderation is the community's gardening.

The Measurement: The Community's Health Metrics

The engagement's metrics: the participation rates per ritual, the response times, the member-to-member interaction ratio (the community's health measured by the members' support of each other, not just the coach's replies).

The retention's correlation: the engaged members' completion and renewal rates versus the silent members' — the community's engagement data proving the belonging's business value.

And the sentiment's monitoring: the community's mood tracked through the content and the interactions — the culture's health checked, the drifts addressed, the wins amplified.

Conclusion

The coaching program's community cultivation turns the member list into the cohort: the opening rituals that set the culture, the weekly rhythms that give it the heartbeat, the video formats that carry the coach's presence at scale, the champions cultivated for the community's co-ownership, and the negativity's gardening that protects the culture — the belonging that retains the members and powers the referrals. The video tools suited to community cultivation, free tiers included, are catalogued at AI Video Generator Free. The curriculum teaches; the community keeps the members — the cultivation is the retention's craft.

FAQ

How do coaching programs build community in cohorts?
The rituals' architecture: the opening introductions that set the culture, the weekly rhythms (the intentions, the check-ins, the wins), the milestone celebrations, and the closing rituals — the belonging built by the repeated structure and the coach's visible presence.

What's the coach's role in the program community after the content is delivered?
The weekly presence video, the thread replies, the celebration participation, and the hot-seat coaching — the coach's consistent visibility is what the community's trust and activity mirror. The presence scheduled as the delivery, not left to the leftover time.

How do program communities handle negativity between members?
The norms stated at the opening, the conflicts moved to the private channels quickly, the moderation's fairness consistent, and the culture's protection prioritized — the gardening that keeps the community safe for the vulnerability that makes it valuable.]]>

The norms stated at the opening, the conflicts moved to the private channels quickly, the moderation's fairness consistent, and the culture's protection prioritized — the gardening that keeps the community safe for the vulnerability that makes it valuable.

AI Image Generators for Interior Designers: The Client Presentation Boards

<![CDATA[The interior design presentation is the project's first deliverable and the client's first "yes" — the boards that communicate the concept, the materials, the palette, and the budget's relationship to the dream. AI image generation now builds the presentation's visual layers: the concept imagery rendered to the brief, the material palettes composed, the room's options visualized. The designer's specification and sourcing remain the professional core; the presentation's persuasion is the generation's assist. Here's the presentation-board guide: the structure, the assets, and the communication craft.

The Presentation Board's Architecture: The Story in Five Layers

The concept statement. The design's story in three sentences — the inspiration, the palette, the feeling — supported by the concept imagery that makes the words visible. The concept statement is the presentation's thesis; every board's element serves it.

The palette board. The project's colors composed: the wall's tones, the textile's colors, the accent's pops — the palette presented with the proportions (the dominant, the secondary, the accent) and the paint references specified.

The materials board. The surfaces' samples composed: the flooring, the countertops, the cabinetry's finishes, the metals, the textiles — the materials presented in the light's and the combination's reality, the touch-and-feel samples referenced for the physical meeting.

The furniture and fixture selections. The pieces specified with the images, the sources, and the price tiers — the furniture plan's visual paired with the budget's reality. The selections presented with the alternatives (the investment piece versus the budget option) where the client's choices benefit from the tiered view.

The room renderings. The spaces visualized in the assembled concept: the renderings labeled as the concept communication, the room's architecture preserved, the furniture's proportions honest. The renderings that sell the direction while the specifications govern the reality.

The Generation Workflow: The Concept Imagery Built

The brief translated to the style block. The client's brief decoded into the generation's variables: the palette's temperature, the style's family, the lighting's mood, the room's function — the style block built and repeated across the concept imagery, the presentation's visual coherence held.

The options generated for the decisions. The palette's variations, the style's alternatives, the material's options — each decision point presented with the generated options rendered into the room's context. The decisions made visually; the client's choices documented.

The accuracy's honesty. The design's revisions paired with the budget's implications — the client's choices informed by the costs, the design's evolution and the budget's discipline synchronized.

The approval's completion: the boards approved, the specifications signed, the procurement's authorization documented — the presentation's approval is the project's green light, archived with the project's records.

The Business Layer: The Presentations That Win Projects

The pitch presentations. The prospective client's presentation: the designer's portfolio, the process explained, the sample boards demonstrating the capability — the pitch's visuals that win the project before the project exists.

The portfolio's maintenance.
The Delivery Driver's Charging Kit: Keeping a Work Phone Alive Through a Full Shift

<![CDATA[For delivery and rideshare drivers, the phone isn't a device — it's the workplace. GPS running constantly, screen at full brightness in sunlight, camera scanning at every pickup, data streaming all shift: the usage pattern that drains a healthy battery in 5-6 hours, against shifts that run 8-12. The drivers who last treat charging as equipment planning, not an afterthought — a kit built around one rule: the phone's battery should never be the thing that ends the shift.

The math of a work shift (why ordinary charging fails)

A navigation-heavy workday consumes 15-25% of a phone battery per hour — call it a full charge in 5 hours of active use. A screen permanently at high brightness (outdoor legibility demands it) adds 20-30% more consumption; constant cellular and GPS radios add their share. The arithmetic means a full-shift driver needs 1.5-2 phone charges per shift from somewhere.

Ordinary answers fail predictably: a small phone-sized power bank (5,000mAh) delivers barely half a work charge; a car's built-in USB port trickles 0.5-2A — often less than the phone consumes while navigating, so the phone slowly dies even "while charging." The kit that works is built around honest numbers, not hope.

The kit, component by component

A 20,000mAh power bank with 30W+ output is the workhorse — two full phone charges in a pocket or bag, fast enough to recover 50% in a half-hour break. This is the piece worth spending on: capacity first, then wattage, then size. The bank lives in the vehicle, charged every night at home as part of the shift-prep routine.

A 12V car charger rated 30-45W transforms the drive time between deliveries into charging time — the vehicle's socket feeds real fast-charge watts through a proper adapter (the built-in USB ports' trickling output is the trap). Cheap car adapters run hot and negotiate poorly; the $20-30 branded unit negotiates PD properly and lasts years.

A charging mount combines the two necessities: the phone held at navigation height while charging continuously. Magnetic mounts (Qi2/MagSafe-compatible, or vent-mounts with the charging cable routed) keep one hand free and the phone visible; the integrated wireless-charging mounts are convenient but slower and hotter than cable charging — in summer especially, the cable-fed mount wins.

One spare cable, rated correctly. The work cable bends around mounts and pockets daily; cables are consumables, and the spare in the glovebox converts a mid-shift failure into a ten-second swap. A 3-amp rated USB-C cable carries standard fast charging; drivers running 45W+ want the 5-amp rated version.

Heat: the performance killer nobody plans for

Summer turns windshields into ovens — a phone on a dash mount in direct sun can pass 40°C, where the battery management system throttles charging to a trickle and dims the screen. The workarounds that work: vent mounts (air-conditioned air flows across the phone), off-dashboard placement with the screen angled away from direct sun, and the break-time ritual — phone moved out of the sun for the ten minutes it's charging, since charging a hot battery is precisely when throttling bites hardest. Winter is kinder, though phone-on-cold-morning batteries also charge slowly until they warm.

The battery-longevity dimension: working phones age fast

A work phone cycles its battery 1.5-2 times daily — 500+ cycles a year, which is the full design life of a lithium battery. Working drivers should plan for battery economics from the start: the phone whose battery health hits 80% in year one needs either a battery service ($50-100, transformative) or the two-phone rotation (work phone and personal phone alternating shifts, halving each one's cycle count).

The rotation strategy has a hidden benefit: the personal phone stays off the navigation-and-camera grind entirely, and a dead work battery never takes your personal life down with it. Drivers running older phones as dedicated work devices — bought used, SIM-carded for work only — often find the economics better than upgrading a flagship annually.

The shift routine that ties it together

The kit works when the routine holds: before the shift — phone at 100%, power bank charged, cable and mount checked. During — car charger feeds the phone while driving; the power bank covers the on-foot stretches; heat managed by mount placement. After — everything back on chargers, cable inspected for wear, battery health glanced monthly. The routine is five minutes a day, and it's the difference between the driver whose phone dies at the last pickup and the one whose equipment simply works, shift after shift. The phone charger and power bank guides cover the hardware choices in depth for anyone building the kit from scratch.

Conclusion

A full work shift demands 1.5-2 phone charges, and the professional's answer is equipment, not endurance: a 20,000mAh bank, a real 30-45W car charger, a charging mount that beats the sun, and a spare cable — tied together by the five-minute daily routine. Plan the battery economics too, because work phones cycle through their design life annually: service or rotate them deliberately. The route is unpredictable; the charging shouldn't be.

FAQ

What size power bank does a delivery driver need?
20,000mAh with 30W+ output — roughly two full work-phone charges, fast enough to add 50% during a meal break. Smaller banks deliver half a work charge; the 20,000mAh class is the professional baseline.

Why does my phone die even while charging in the car?
The built-in USB port trickles 0.5-2A — often less than navigation consumes. A 30-45W 12V PD adapter feeds genuine fast-charge watts through the socket, turning drive time into actual charging instead of slower dying.

How do I stop my phone overheating on the mount in summer?
Move to a vent-mount (air-conditioned air across the phone), angle it out of direct sun, and let it cool during break-time charging — charging a hot battery triggers severe throttling. Windshield-mounted phones in summer sun run past 40°C, where both speed and brightness suffer.]]>

Windshield-mounted phones in summer sun run past 40°C, where both speed and brightness suffer.

This complete comparison guide: the two receipts' full line items, the risks' pricing, and and the scenarios' honest fits.

The Two Receipts' Line Items

The new system's receipt: the equipment's full price, the installation's complete scope — the pad, the gas, the wiring, the permits — the full warranty's, and the witnessed commissioning's — with that number being the clean's and complete's. The used system's receipt: the unit's negotiated price, the relocation's rigging, the installation's fresh scope — the pad's, the gas's, the wiring's being new work regardless of the machine's age — plus the paid inspection's fee, and the refresh's service visit.
The transfer switch's separate story: the used system's ATS being the included's or the missing's — the new switch's price joining the used receipt where the seller kept theirs.

The Risks' Pricing

The history's unknown: the used unit's run hours, its storage's conditions, its maintenance's gaps — the inspection's findings being the risks' only measurement, the dealer's diagnostic being the buyer's best tool. The warranty's absence: the factory's coverage following the original registration — the used buyer's protection living in the inspection's findings and the service contracts' instead. The parts' and the support's timeline: the discontinued models' boards' scarcity — the model's parts availability research preceding the deposit.

The repair's and the reliability's pricing: the used unit's first-year failure rate being the used market's well-known — the insurance's math being the reserve fund's set-aside for the surprises.

The Scenarios' Fits

The used's winning scenarios: the handy buyer's finding the low-hours unit from the estate's sale, the transfer switch's included, the inspection's passed, the installation's being the owner's planned project anyway. The new's winning scenarios: the absent owner's needing the warranty's and the monitoring's automation, the storm-state buyer whose very first outage carries stakes that price the risk's premium, and the financing buyer whose monthly math favors the new system's cleaner terms. The middle's path: the dealer-certified used units — the trade-ins' inspected, the short warranty's provided — the market's compromise tier.

The summary's comparison card: the used path wins when the unit's history is documented, the inspection's clean, and the buyer's hands-on; the new path wins when the risk's pricing, the warranty's, and the automation's value stack — and the honest comparison always being the totals' and the peaceful sleeps' arithmetic.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is buying a used home standby generator worth it?

With the professional inspection, the documented history, and the fresh installation's costs budgeted, the right unit can be the genuine bargain — without the history, the repair's surprises typically erase the savings.

How much cheaper is a used standby generator really?

The equipment's price drops the most, but the installation's scope, the refresh's service, and the inspection's fees rebuild the total — the honest savings usually living at the third of the new's price, not the half.

What should I insist on before buying used?

The run hours' and the fault log's reading, the maintenance records' evidence, the professional inspection's pass, and the transfer switch's provenance — the four insists framing the purchase.

Amit a macskád megért Donald Trumpról, amit a legtöbb demokrata nem

<![CDATA[Alisa Valdes-Rodriguez @ THE PUGILIST

Évek óta kapom különböző változatait ennek a megjegyzésnek, mindig baloldali [demokrata] emberektől, mindig úgy, mintha ezzel eldőlt volna valami.

Különböző fajta intelligenciák léteznek a világon.

Rövid a koncentrációja. Történelmi, politikai, tudományos és jogi ismeretei legjobb esetben is gyengék.

Évek óta kapom különböző változatait ennek a megjegyzésnek, mindig baloldali [demokrata] emberektől, mindig úgy, mintha ezzel eldőlt volna valami.

Különböző fajta intelligenciák léteznek a világon.

Rövid a koncentrációja.
Negotiating Russia

<![CDATA[Talking with the LLM - The ChatGPT Nagotiator

Negotiate with Putin to retrieve Russian troops from Ukraine.
I am playing Putin and you try to negotiate me to withdraw. Go.

Me: President Putin, thank you for taking the time to meet. I understand the significance of what’s happening in Ukraine for you and Russia, and I’d like us to explore a path forward that preserves your strategic interests while easing the immense costs this situation imposes on everyone involved.

You: Russia’s security is non-negotiable. NATO expansion into Ukraine is an existential threat to us, and we are defending our interests. Why should I consider withdrawal?

Me: I hear you. Security is paramount for every nation, and I can see how NATO's presence near your borders feels like a threat. What I’m offering is a way to address those concerns while avoiding a prolonged conflict that is not in anyone’s best interest. Consider this: every day this continues, Russia is facing economic strain from sanctions, loss of international partnerships, and the risk of deeper isolation. You’ve built Russia into a global power, but the longer this conflict drags on, the harder it becomes to sustain that position.

What if we shift the narrative? What if you could withdraw under terms that strengthen Russia’s influence diplomatically and ensure your security concerns are addressed?

You: What terms? You’re asking me to retreat. That’s humiliating for Russia.

Me: Not at all. Let’s reframe this as a strategic realignment rather than a retreat. Here’s what I propose:

Phased Withdrawal: Russia agrees to withdraw troops from specific regions of Ukraine, starting with non-contested areas. In return, we negotiate:
A legally binding agreement ensuring Ukraine will not join NATO for a defined period (e.g., 15-20 years), addressing your immediate security concern.
NATO’s troop deployments in Eastern Europe scaled back in key areas to reduce the perception of encirclement.

Sanctions Relief: As withdrawal proceeds, we initiate a phased rollback of specific sanctions, allowing Russian economic growth to recover while maintaining your strong domestic standing.

Neutral Zones: To further enhance security, we establish neutral, demilitarized zones in border regions. This demonstrates Russia’s leadership in pursuing peace while protecting its borders.

With these measures, you achieve tangible results: security guarantees, economic recovery, and a legacy of strong leadership without sacrificing lives or resources in an endless conflict.

You: How do I know NATO or the West will honor these agreements? And what about Crimea and the territories we’ve already incorporated into Russia?

Me: Fair concerns, and trust is key. That’s why this process must involve third-party guarantees—neutral nations or international organizations like the UN overseeing compliance from all sides. As for Crimea and the Donbas, we propose a diplomatic resolution. Let’s begin with ceasefires and negotiations on those regions’ status while prioritizing humanitarian aid and rebuilding efforts.

This allows time to reach solutions that benefit everyone, without immediate escalation or loss of face.

You: Russia is being painted as the villain here. Why should I trust any of this?

Me: Russia’s actions have been scrutinized, yes, but leadership is about redefining narratives. By stepping into a role as a peacemaker—ensuring the long-term security of Russia and the region—you change that narrative. This is about legacy, President Putin. You have the power to end this in a way that positions Russia as a stabilizing force, not an isolated one.

Me: President Putin, you have the opportunity to shape not just the future of Russia, but the global order. Right now, every country is watching this conflict closely. If Russia takes the lead in de-escalating this crisis, it shifts the entire narrative. It positions you not as a regional aggressor but as a global statesman willing to make tough, decisive moves for the sake of stability and strength.

You: That’s easy to say. But what does de-escalation look like on the ground? What guarantees do I get that Russia will not be taken advantage of once we pull back?

Me: Those guarantees are critical, and they must be real, not just words. Here’s how we ensure Russia’s security while creating a tangible framework for stability:

Legally Binding Security Framework
We formalize a treaty, signed by key NATO members, the United States, and Ukraine, guaranteeing that Ukraine will not seek NATO membership for an agreed period. This is a diplomatic win for Russia, as it achieves the very security you’ve been fighting for.
The treaty also includes mutual commitments to avoid military buildups near Russian borders. Independent monitors will verify compliance from all sides to ensure fairness.

Economic Recovery Plan for Russia
As part of the phased withdrawal, we work with key international partners to lift sector-specific sanctions, particularly those that are hitting Russian industries hardest. This allows you to redirect resources currently tied up in conflict toward rebuilding the Russian economy and strengthening domestic support for your leadership.

International Recognition of a Ceasefire Plan
To address contested territories like Crimea and the Donbas, we propose an internationally brokered ceasefire. In the short term, both sides halt military activity in these areas while opening channels for humanitarian assistance and eventual negotiations about their long-term status.

This would show the world that Russia is willing to act pragmatically while protecting its vital interests. By taking these steps, Russia gains diplomatic leverage and restores economic stability without conceding its core security concerns.

You: What happens if the West uses this withdrawal to push Russia further into a corner? We’ve been here before—sanctions were never lifted after Crimea. Why should I believe this will be different?

Me: I understand the distrust—it’s not without precedent. But this time, the stakes are different. The ongoing war is bleeding resources, isolating Russia from key global players like China and India, and destabilizing your regional influence. A prolonged conflict risks making Russia weaker, not stronger.

The difference here is that by engaging with this proposal, you’re taking control of the narrative and the process. By involving neutral guarantors—countries that you trust, such as China or Turkey—we ensure that the commitments from NATO and Ukraine are upheld. Russia retains the ability to monitor and verify compliance every step of the way.

Additionally, think about the alternative. A prolonged conflict keeps draining your military and economy. Even your allies may begin questioning the cost of aligning with Russia in such an extended standoff. By de-escalating now, you not only stabilize Russia’s position but also regain some moral and political authority on the global stage.

You: And what happens if Ukraine still refuses to negotiate or retaliates after a withdrawal?

Me: That’s precisely why we propose a phased withdrawal tied to clear, reciprocal steps from Ukraine and the West. For example:

Russian troop withdrawals could be tied to specific actions from Ukraine, such as declaring neutrality in its foreign policy or pulling back its own forces from border regions.
Any violation of these terms would trigger an immediate suspension of Russian withdrawal, ensuring that Russia doesn’t act in good faith without seeing the same in return.

The key is balance. Russia doesn’t need to withdraw unilaterally or appear weak. Instead, this is a strategic, phased approach where both sides take visible steps toward de-escalation under international oversight.

Me (leaning in a bit more personally): President Putin, you are already a figure of immense power in history. This is your moment to solidify your legacy—not as a leader who allowed a quagmire to drag Russia down, but as the architect of a new framework for security and peace. With this plan, Russia emerges not defeated, but stronger, more respected, and better positioned to focus on its future.

---

What’s your move? Push back harder, ask for more specifics, or throw a curveball—I’m ready to adapt. Let’s keep refining.

You said: My secret vision is that I want to re-create the Soviet Union, or in other words the Russian Empire, and I see land ownership as a value. I consider every offer in the light of my plans to expand Russian political influence on as much area as possible, while I am confident that my continuous informational warfare agains the western word is working very well, I can strongly influence elections in Europe and the USA. I have economical problems but the hardships of the common people do not concern me.

Alright, now I see the deeper layers of your strategy, President Putin. You’re focused on expansion, influence, and the long game of reshaping global power dynamics. Land and geopolitical dominance matter most to you—not economic prosperity or public sentiment. If that’s the case, my approach will pivot. I’ll aim to appeal to your grand vision while exposing why escalation might jeopardize your ultimate goal of long-term Russian dominance.

---

Me: President Putin, your vision for Russia as a dominant force—politically, culturally, and territorially—is unmistakable. You’ve already shown the world that Russia cannot be ignored. But every great leader knows there’s a difference between a short-term gain and a long-term legacy. Right now, the war in Ukraine may seem like a necessary piece of your plan to expand influence, but it risks undermining the larger project of restoring Russian greatness.

You: How so? My current actions are cementing Russia’s power and influence over the region. Why would I stop now?

Me: You’ve already achieved a significant amount—control over Crimea, a foothold in the Donbas, and a clear message to the world that Russia is willing to defend its sphere of influence. However, the ongoing war is costing you in ways that directly threaten your long-term vision. Let me explain:

Risk to Regional Stability
If this war continues, neighboring countries will not be drawn into Russia’s orbit—they’ll arm themselves to the teeth, strengthening NATO and cutting off potential alliances with Moscow. Finland and Sweden have already moved closer to NATO, and others will follow. The longer the war drags on, the harder it will be to secure regional dominance.

Dependence on Fragile Alliances
Russia is increasingly reliant on partnerships with countries like China, but even China’s support has limits. Beijing has its own ambitions, and it will not let Russia grow too powerful. If Russia becomes too isolated or weakened economically, even your current allies may see you as a liability, not a partner.

Erosion of Global Influence
While your informational warfare is effective, prolonged war is a double-edged sword. Economic hardship and ongoing sanctions will eventually erode Russia’s ability to project soft power. You risk turning your image from a strong, calculated leader into that of a reckless one—pushing neutral nations and emerging powers further from your sphere of influence.

You: I don’t care about sanctions or hardship. Russia has survived worse. Informational warfare is shifting public opinion globally, and I have the patience to outlast the West.

Me: I don’t doubt your resolve, but patience alone won’t secure the empire you envision. Right now, your influence campaigns are effective, but they depend on cracks in Western unity. Those cracks won’t matter if the West regroups and doubles down on isolating Russia for the next decade or two. Meanwhile, a prolonged war will weaken the very tools you’re using to grow your influence.

The key question is this: do you want Russia’s dominance to be defined by endless conflict, or do you want to lay the foundation for a sustainable empire—one that thrives on respect, alliances, and influence rather than perpetual war? True empires are built on both hard power and soft power, not endless quagmires.

You: So what’s your offer? How does this help me expand my influence, not shrink it?

Me: That’s where we align this proposal with your vision. Here’s how:

Formalizing Russia’s Sphere of Influence
Rather than fighting for every inch of land, let’s secure a recognized sphere of influence. We propose a diplomatic agreement that formally acknowledges Russia’s leadership role in key regions. Ukraine remains neutral, and NATO agrees to halt further expansion eastward. This secures your strategic interests without constant military expenditure.

Economic Power as a Tool of Influence
By withdrawing and negotiating sanctions relief, Russia regains access to international markets and resources. This strengthens your economy—not for the common people, but for your ability to fund future influence campaigns and military modernization. With a stronger economic base, you can invest in more strategic tools of empire-building rather than exhausting your resources on a single front.

Diplomatic Leverage in Contested Territories
For Crimea and the Donbas, we propose formalized control under a framework that the international community recognizes. This lets you solidify key territorial gains while freezing the conflict in a way that benefits Russia.

By pursuing this path, you don’t retreat—you consolidate. You refocus your resources on strategic moves that enhance your influence globally without the drag of prolonged conflict. Empires are not built in one war—they’re built over decades of careful planning and calculated moves. This is your moment to recalibrate for the next phase.

Me (leaning in a bit more): President Putin, every great leader knows when to pause, consolidate, and plan their next move. This isn’t about abandoning your vision—it’s about securing the foundation for it. The Ukraine conflict has served its purpose. Now is the time to lock in your gains, stabilize your position, and prepare for the next chapter of Russian greatness.

]]>

(Nevezhetjük igazából akkor zero day vulnerability-nek is) Tekintsünk például a Monero hálózatát.

A következő kis zavart a klímaberendezéssel kapcsolatban éreztem.

A normál elektromos motorokkal ellentétben a benzinmotorok szűk fordulatszám-tartományban működhetnek.

A benzinmotor hatalmas.

Written by Geoff Greer; Translated with DeepL (free version)
]]>

Welcome to The #Fediverse! Some thoughts follow

<![CDATA[So in recent light of #twitter exodus (thank for the relentless Fediverse publicity work of #Musk) there are a lot of people coming over to #ActivityPub-based services like #mastodon and they have their expected behaviours and preconceptions of the network.

Since I've been there as well a while ago, let me share some experiences of mine with you here. Take it as a very-non-official and extremely not going with the "sunny and cheerful disposition" of AP proponents.

What is the name of the network?

I don't know. I mean, I cannot tell which one people will understand. All these names kind of work and don't at once, in not popularity order:

ActivityPub (or AP in short). That is the name of the common protocol the network uses. This would be the proper name to call the network, but lot of people look clueless seeing the word.
Mastodon. This is just one software on the AP network, but the most popular one, so it kind of represents the AP mass, so people often call it this way.
There are other popular software using AP though, like Friendica, Peertube, Pixelfed, Pleroma, as well as loosely connecting ones like Nextcloud, Mobilizon or Writefreely (which you're just reading).
Fediverse. Well, Fediverse existed before Mastodon and it means "all" the software using the common AP protocol. It is also a good name, but for curious reasons people use it sparingly.

I try to use Fediverse from on.

There are no public messages

Let's start with the most often seen misconception: There Are No Gobal Public Messages on Fediverse. Period.

It means that federation means "subscription": if I want to hear you I have to subscribe your account, so your account will send me all your messages. All messages are send to someone.

The whole picture is more complex though: ther is a target called "public", so it seems you can create public posts after all! You create a post for the public so it will show up in everyone's stream!
Except it works differently: all posts are posted to the local server (and Fediverse is right now consists more than 10000 servers!), and stay there. Everyone using the same server as you will see it as a public post! They can search for it and find it, they can see it in "trends", they can follow its hashtags, etc.

But nobody will see it outside the local server by default. They cannot see it, search will not find it and it will not be seen in trends or hashtag subscription.

But the whole whole picture is even more complex! :-)
Servers can show only those "public" posts to you what they actually possess. Normally they are oblivious about any posts on any other servers… But this changes when someone on the local server follows someone on a different server.
In this case the person will "pull" these messages of a remote person to the local server. If the posts were public (as most posts are) then they will became visible locally! They will be searchable and trendable!

So, in theory, it would be possible to have real public posts if your local server would pull all public messages from all servers and insert them locally. (In theory there are "relay" servers that server admins could use to pull remote messages. In practice they either don't work, or haev a limited reach. Or maybe it would cause so large amount of data that nobody does this. I don't know.)

Local server communities
One more easy to spot attribute of the Fediverse is the thematic servers.
There are a lot of open registration servers available and lot of those do have a specific local theme: special-gender people are strong in the Fediverse (mainly due to its origins, for which determines that Fediverse always have provided strong support for oppressed minority groups), but there are various themes from manga cats to white hat hackers.

Since there are no global public messages it become important what messages your local server provide, and the "theme" of the local server may determine what messages are visible from unknown people, where the trends are interpreted, in what messages do the hashtag search actually work.

Some considers also a positive aspect not having global public messages as it is harder to harrass or attack people from outside the server and local admins can effectively step in in case of local problems, so it helps community intergrity. On the other side of the coin all of this helps forming of opinion bubbles, separates and disconnects people/groups and hinders inter-group communication. I don't want to judge which is more important.

No fillback
There is no fillback - which means there is no way to retrieve old messages. It is possible to find people on other servers using your server, since the "search" field is usually extremely smart and is able to find (resolve) URLs of "actors" on other servers, but it shows a rather false image of what they have actually posted. You may or may not see any posts; I've been old that pinned posts are always kept and offered but others… varies. Sometimes you get a random picked bunch of a few older messages, sometimes not even that. If you want to see the real history there is no way for your server to ask the remote server to send you all the past messages: you have to go to the remote server, possibly log in, and read the messages if it allows that.

Some say this is not a problem, since it's simple to jump between servers. Except, well, you can only see the messages: you cannot reply or react on them, unless you create hundreds of local accounts.

…except pins
As I mentioned, pinned messages seeem to stay around forever (other messages may be destroyed after a while, depending on local server rules), and they are shown to people searching and founding people there. The amount of pinned messages are severly limited though, most servers don't enable more than 5 of them.

Toots do more than tweets
One substitude action on the Mastodon side was to call the short messages somehow, and since they were (at least mentally) cloning Twitter they called the "tweets" as "toots". It means a short and sharp noise made by a horn, trumpet or similar (apart from sniffing cocaine, but let's not get into that one). So these short messages are called toots, which many people consider a rather unfitting word, but that's what we have.

Toots can do a bit more than "tweets", which are 140 characters long (280 for accented languages), and it includes everything, apart from that links (URL) are automagically shortened to t.co/ links).

The default toots limits are:

500 characters length
all links equal to 23 characters (using a shortener is strongly discuoraged)
mentions only count the username part, not the domain
hashtags count fully
you can create Polls (up to 4 choices, 25 characters each; they expire 5 minutes to one week)
you can attach files (images up to 8 MB; video and audio up to 40 MB, at least on Mastodon)
each servers can offer localized emoji shortcodes (:tutorialwriting:) for whatever insane reasons
you can put a sensitive content/NSFW (Not Safe For Work) warning and blurring on posts
you can choose publishing levels from public, unlisted, followers or direct.

Verification ✅, verified links
There is no such point of verification when anyone can create their own server and can verify whomever they want. Still, there are ways to verify people with varying levels of assurance.

The normal level is that you include your webpage or service which links back (in a documented way) to the server you're using, and the server will verify that backlink, conclude that you indeed control that service an gives a green check mark on your included data in your profile page.

The secure way is that you offer a verified identity, like a signed GPG key or a widely used service (like an account of a large search-engine based advertisement business or some technology-cloning-without-permission business based operating system like game console developer company acquired public source code repo) and configure it doing the same verification, since it gives more assurance than a random webpage.

As a sidenote everyone can just jokingly write a checkmark after their name. Or a cake, a zebra or a biohazard sign.

But apart from that… consider nobody really_ verified. Think of it like it was Twitter. Same way. :-)

Searching
No global public messages, so no global search. You can search on your local server only, and chances are high and you cannot do a "full-text search" (means you cannot search freely for the content of toots, only for hashtags and names; it depends on the local server configuration and the amount of resources the admin have thrown at it).

However the little search field does magic. It cannot search for messages but it can look up nearly any ActivityPub/Fediverse service or account! You can try fediverse address (like "@johndoe@weirdservice.example.org") or URLs (like "https://weirdserve.example.net/post/19561023") and it does all it can to try to provide you with the referenced content.

Trends, following hashtags
No globa… ah I am repeating myself. So no global trends and no way to follow hastags on foreign servers. Local only. Pity, really, since makes the whole thing rather pointless.

Non-messaging platforms
There are a lot of Fediverse-compatible services apart from messaging:

PeerTube is a video sharing service (think YouTube)
PixelFed is image sharing (Instagram)
Mobilizon is meeting organiser (Meetupcom?)
Friendica, Hubzilla, Misskey, Pleroma is long message stream (Facebook partially)
FunkWhale is music sharing (Spotify)
Lemmy is a social link aggregation (Reddit)
]]>

!--more--
FIGYELEM!
Ebben a leírásban lesznek parancssori parancsok.

Valószínűleg .iso kiterjesztése lesz a fájlnévnek.

A második lemez első partíciója /dev/sdb1.

(Könnyű megjegyezni, a "list block devices" kifejezés alapján.)
lsblk -f
Ezt a parancsot most is lefuttathatod.

Figyelem! Ha leválasztod a pendriveot, és újra csatlakoztatod a géphez, megváltozhat a hozzárendelt blokkeszköz neve! Tehát, mielőtt kiírod a lemezképet ellenőrizd le mégegyszer!

Helyettesítsd be a blokkeszköz nevét!
sudo umount /dev/sdb1

helyes: /dev/sdb
helytelen: /dev/sdb1
Kétszer is ellenőrizd le a parancsot, mielőtt elindítod! Főleg a blokkeszköz nevét!
Helyettesítsd be a fájlneveket!
sudo dd if=/home/felhasznalo/Letöltések/manjaro.iso of=/dev/sda

]]>

A partíciókat reprezentáló fájlok nevének végén számok vannak. Az első lemez (
/dev/sda
) első partíciója
/dev/sda1
, a második partíció
/dev/sda2
, stb. A második lemez első partíciója
/dev/sdb1
.

A
/dev

lsblk
parancssori programra lesz szükség. (Könnyű megjegyezni, a “list block devices” kifejezés alapján.)
-f
kapcsolóval futtatva kiírja a partíciókon található fájlrendszerek információit is.
Csatlakoztasd a pendriveot, és keresd meg az
lsblk
program kimenetében:

Telepítő lemezkép kiírása

A
dd
parancssori programmal fogjuk átmásolni az ISO lemezkép tartalmát a speciális blokkeszköz fájlba.

A szokásosan másoláshoz használt
cp
cp
használatával másolnánk, akkor pl. a
/dev/sdb1

umount
programmal lehet leválasztani. A
sudo

# Helyettesítsd be a blokkeszköz nevét!
sudo umount /dev/sdb1

sudo
által indítani a
dd
programot.
A
dd
programnak az
if=
of=
kapcsolóval a cél fájlt (a speciális blokkeszközt).
helyes:
/dev/sdb

helytelen:
/dev/sdb1

Kétszer is ellenőrizd le a parancsot, mielőtt elindítod! Főleg a blokkeszköz nevét!
Helyettesítsd be a fájlneveket!

sudo dd if=/home/felhasznalo/Letöltések/manjaro.iso of=/dev/sda

Ez a parancs sokáig is eltarthat. Amikor újra megjelenik a parancsértelmező prompt-ja (ahová beírod a parancsot), az jelzi, hogy befejeződött.

Utána a
sync
